Welcome to SD-Link

Plug & Play: SD-Link adapters connect your avionics to SkyDemon, Sky-Map, VFRnav, EasyVFR and XCSoar.

As pilots and engineers, we develop products that we use ourselves. Our adapters reliably connect avionics and EFB, are fairly priced, and are continuously improved through community feedback.

Simple installation

Simply plug the adapter between the radio and the cable – ready for immediate use without complicated setup.

About our Bluetooth adapters.

  • What is the SkyDemon Bluetooth frequency transmission feature?

SkyDemon supports the wireless transmission of radio frequencies via Bluetooth directly to compatible radio devices – ideal in combination with our SD-Link Bluetooth adapters.

Pilots can easily select frequencies in the app and transmit them to the radio with a tap of their finger, instead of setting them manually.

This saves time, reduces input errors and increases safety in the cockpit – for both active and standby frequencies.

More information about cycling in the Leipzig Region as well as more interesting routes:

    Directly from SkyDemon (English): https://www.skydemon.aero/start/connectivity
German-language details about this feature can also be found in the Aviation Magazine 08/2024

  • How do I select frequencies in SkyDemon?

SkyDemon offers several ways to select frequencies:

    - “Radio” tab: All relevant frequencies along the route based on the current position.
    - Pilot Log: Contains all frequencies for the planned flight.
    - Map: Tap airspaces and select the appropriate frequency.
    - altitude radar: Frequency display based on altitude and position.

With an SD-Link Bluetooth adapter, these frequencies can be transmitted directly to the radio.

  • What is a SkyDemon Bluetooth adapter for aviation radios and how does it work?

The SD-Link Bluetooth adapter is a compact adapter (BLE) that connects the serial interface of your radio to SkyDemon.

Supported interfaces: RS-232 or RS-422, depending on the radio.

The adapters are specially designed for use in aviation – robust, lightweight and reliable.

  • What advantages do SD-Link adapters offer over other Bluetooth solutions?

    Advantages of our adapters:

    - Plug-and-Play: No laying of cables, no soldering – simply plug in.
    - Wide-range supply (5–28 V): Ideal for 12 V and 24 V vehicle electrical systems.
    - Compact design: Fits even when there is little space behind the radio.
    - Angled variants: For radio devices with limited installation space.

  • Which radios are the SD-Link adapters suitable for?

    Plug-and-Play adapter:

    - uAvionix AV-30
    - Becker AR620X (NG version)
    - spark ATR833
→ also available as an angled version
    - TQ KRT2
→ also available as an angled version
    - TRIG TY91 / TY92

    Universal adapter (for hobbyists):
    - SD-Link Universal Bluetooth to RS232 adapter
→ also available as an angled version

  • How do I connect my Bluetooth adapter for aircraft radios to SkyDemon?

    1. Connect adapter:

    – Place the adapter into the designated slot.
    – Plug-and-play adapters do not require an external power supply.

    2. Activate Bluetooth:

    – Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device.
But do not configure the BLE adapter in the Bluetooth environment of the mobile device!!!
This all happens in the EFB app itself.

    3. Connect SkyDemon:

    – In SkyDemon: Settings → Third-party devices → Add Bluetooth Device
    – Assign device type and function, e.g., “Funke ATR833” or “TQ KRT2” → Function: “Radio”

    4. Configure adapter:

    – Select frequency mode (active / standby)
    - Save!

    5. Test function:

    – Test in flight mode or in simulation in SkyDemon
    – Select frequency and send to the radio

  • Can the adapter also be used with a transponder?

Some adapters can NMEA-compatible autopilots provide navigation data – e.g. for course control.

The integration of transponders is not currently planned, as SkyDemon does not currently support this function.

    However, future expansions are planned.

  • Note

Our adapters are experimental prototypes intended exclusively for use under test conditions.
